Gillian Anderson wouldn’t turn down The Fall’s fourth series

Gillian Anderson is excited to have the opportunity to reunite with Jamie Dornan, her co-star in the popular psychological drama The Fall.

The series, which was filmed in Belfast and ran for three seasons, with Gillian playing the role of Detective Stella Gibson who chases complex serial killer Paul Spector, played Jamie Dornan.

Despite the many roles she has played on popular series like The Fall and The X Files and now Margaret Thatcher on the new season of The Crown, Gillian, 52, says The Fall is the show most people with her about want to speak.

“I am amazed how many people come up to me these days and say they are watching The Fall and how much they are enjoying it,” she told the Irish Daily Mirror.

“Now that it originally aired, more people seem to be watching it.

“Stella is a fantastic character and I am very happy to have played her. I was talking to the show’s writer, Alan Cubitt, the other day about the possibility of a fourth season. I would not say no. ”

She and Jamie Dornan have kept in touch and she says she would be happy to work with him again.

“I would consider it a privilege to work with Jamie again. I’ll see him shortly. ”

This was the second time Gillian had worked in Northern Ireland. There she shot Robot Overlords in 2014.

“It’s amazing how many people talk about Belfast when they talk to me about The Fall, especially people in the UK. They don’t know how pretty and how interesting it is as a place, ”she said.

Gillian is exceptional in the role of Margaret Thatcher, whose 11 year tenure has had dire consequences for Northern Ireland. Although she was the first British Prime Minister to make history, she was not a feminist.

“Thatcher had her own problems getting where she was, but unfortunately she didn’t do anything to help other women get where she went. When playing a historical character like Thatcher, it’s very important to put your personal opinion on it aside. I decided to focus on her childhood as the daughter of a greengrocer and see what motivated her to become the woman she was.

“She had a clear vision and purpose that seems to be lacking in British politics today, and she definitely had it. She knew exactly what she wanted to do when she took office in 1979, and she was so determined, rightly or wrongly, especially the economy. After the Faulklands War, the economy began to grow and the very, very high unemployment rates actually began to level out. It really, really divides people, and that’s complicated to have in a leader. But one thing that she definitely had was clarity of purpose and these days that ain’t nothing.

“I am such a woman. I love women, I celebrate women. I see women very positively and I do not reject the success of women. Many women have had the experience of having to fight for roles so hard that sometimes they create a person to deal with the level of setback and rejection and not be heard. ”

Gillian was born in Chicago and the family moved before settling in London as a baby. Her father worked in film production and the family returned to the United States as teenagers. She studied acting in Chicago and after graduating moved to New York, where she worked in theater on Broadway.

The cast on X Files alongside David Duchovney put them on the map and there were 12 seasons of the show in total that won all awards.

She moved to London to work on stage, film and television and has been in a relationship with The Crown writer Peter Morgan since 2016. During her interview with the Irish Daily Mirror from her London home, he turns his head around the laptop to say hello as he brings her a Coca Cola. They met in New York when she was on Streetcar Named Desire.

“Vanessa Kirby played my Stella and she kept saying,” I need you to meet Pete, “and I kept saying,” No, no, no, he’s too fancy, too fancy, too smart. ” I am a fool. I’m an idiot and she kept saying, “No, he’s not like that. He’s funny, quirky and goofy ”.

“When we finished the play we met and ate together and there are photos of me very pregnant with one of my children and Pete is in the background. We were in the same room, but both with different people. After we met and fans found out about it, this photograph popped up online in the same room. We said, “Oh my God, in such a small world we live in!”

The whole family has been in quarantine in London since March, which she calls a godsend as they have been busy with work for the past few years.

“It was very lucky to spend this time with them. I don’t sit still much, so I took a moment to acknowledge this fact under these strange, strange circumstances. I’ve been where I wanted to be with my kids and no work, which is such a big part of my life. ”
