The trailer for Kaali Khuhi from Netflix is out. Directed by Terrie Samundra with Shabana Azmi, Riva Arora, Leela Samson and Sanjeeda Sheikh tells the story of a village in Punjab that seems somehow cursed.
In the trailer, we see 10-year-old Shivangi experiencing supernatural events that are gradually becoming prevalent in her ancestral village. The story has a social message about the child murder of women and how the bad deeds of the past are never forgotten.

The trailer is quite intriguing, as it is immediately clear that the family entered dangerous territory shortly after reaching their village. Shabana Azmi’s grandmother seems to know more than she wants to admit. As for female infanticide, the film seems to make a strong statement about social evil, but it remains to be seen whether it will be as effective as it appears in the trailer.
Regarding Kaali Khuhi, Shabana said in a statement: “Kaali Khuhi is a story about fear, love, hope and perseverance and how, when the odds are stacked against us, we find strength from unlikely places. It’s been quite a journey. ”
Director Terrie Samundra added, “Kaali Khuhi explores the dark history of a family haunted by a gruesome past and caught in a web of unnatural events. When 10-year-old Shivangi witnesses her entire family delving deeper into the secrets of the Black Well, she is put to the ultimate test. Combining elements of drama, suspense and grounded horror, the film is an exciting watch for discerning Netflix viewers. ”
