Elton John said it was “wonderful” to spend “every day” with his family on Tuesday’s episode of The One Show.
The 73-year-old Rocket Man hitmaker, along with presenters Alex Jones and Michael Ball, conducted a special interview on the BBC chat show in which he talked about his life, music and famous friendships over the years.
Elton spoke of his family and said it was “wonderful” to spend “every day” with husband David Furnish and their two sons Zachary, nine and Elijah, seven.

He shared affectionately, “The great thing about Lockdown and the Silver Lining is that I’ve spent so much time with Zachary, Elijah and David.
“I can never spend much time with them anyway. Since March when we left Australia we have been totally locked in either Los Angeles or the UK and we have spent every day together and it has been wonderful. “
Elsewhere during the interview, Elton spoke about his friendship with the late John Lennon.

Elton said, “John came on stage with us at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Thanksgiving 1974. I made a bet with him because I was singing Whatever Gets You Through The Night on his record and playing the piano on it.
“I said,” Look, when it comes to number one you have to come on stage with us. “And it got to be number one, so he did, and he hadn’t been on the stage in Toronto since the Peace Concert and not in New York since the Beatles played at Shea Stadium. «

“When he came on stage I will never forget the reception, it was New York City, they love him …”
He added, “We became really good friends for a couple of years and he had Sean, his second son, and he just had a great life with him until of course the tragedy happened and he was murdered.”
The Beatles star was murdered by Mark David Chapman outside The Dakota in Manhattan’s Upper West Side in 1980. He was 40 years old.

Elton’s interview comes after his husband David revealed that they are camping in the woods around one of their lavish homes for fun for their children during the coronavirus lockdown.

He said, “Since Elton is 73 years old, we did a more limited version of lockdown. One thing the guys couldn’t get out and mingle with their friends. I am really aware of how many activities are possible we can do with you at home?
“I grew up in Canada, I was a Boy Scout, I was a Boy Scout, I love camping and I am a camper.”

David revealed that he and Elton did not give their two sons a “glamping” experience and instead took them to the woods in their backyard to build a fire pit, pitch a tent and collect wood.
He said: ,I didn’t do glamping with the guys – this is the posh campsite where everything is beautifully laid out for you.
“We just went into the woods here on our land and taught the boys how to clear a campsite, dug and built a fire pit, pitched a tent and gathered wood to light.
“They learned how to make a fire, how to cook dinner on a fire, how to fry marshmallows, and they had never made any of them.
