The governor of the Egyptian city of Aswan, Major General Ashraf Attia, directed the suspension of the river navigation in the course of the Nile from Aswan to Edfu in the north, and the closure of highways due to the dust storm and rain.

The Governor called on the Traffic Department to temporarily close the highways after the lack of horizontal visibility due to the dust storm and rain, which led to a decrease in the level of visibility, especially in front of the movement of land vehicles, tourist ships, daubs, sailboats, fishing boats, ferries and private ferries.

Attia appealed to citizens to abide by their homes and avoid the locations of trees and electric antennas, in addition to the importance of the commitment of drivers of vehicles and various cars to stop moving and calm down to reduce traffic accidents.

The governor emphasized the continuous communication through the main operating room with the sub-operating rooms in the local units and other bodies to follow up on the situation first-hand, which has been notified so far of any accidents.

Aswan witnessed Friday bad weather, strong cold winds and heavy rains that the governorate has not witnessed since 2010, and television transmission, home internet and electricity were cut off from the governorate.
