Al-Sisi directs the immediate start of implementing the “Digital Egypt” initiative

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi directed the immediate start of the implementation of the “Digital Egypt” initiative, which will directly contribute to the country’s efforts for digital transformation, and enhance the capabilities of human cadres on digital skills, thus supporting government performance and providing the latest digital services to citizens at the level of the Republic.

The president directed to strengthen efforts to use artificial intelligence technology in state projects for urban planning, as well as in agriculture, health and education, as well as continuing to raise the efficiency of post offices across the country, as well as automating the litigation system through the strategy of “Egypt Digital Justice”.

This came during his meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology.

Ambassador Bassam Radi, spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, said that the meeting dealt with following up on the executive position of the national projects in the communications and information technology sector.

The Spokesman stated that Dr. Amr Talaat reviewed the developments of building a platform for models of urban societies, which aims to govern the construction system in Egypt in a clear framework characterized by planning, organization and adherence to the law, and limiting construction violations and land encroachments.

The Minister of Communications also presented the developments of the projects for building an artificial intelligence system, which comes within the framework of the endeavor to keep pace with global developments in the field of artificial intelligence technologies, and to achieve the optimal use of these technologies in all sectors by integrating them into the digital system to contribute to raising the level of government services performance.

The meeting also witnessed a review of the latest projects of electronic design and manufacturing at the local level, which come within the framework of the state’s vision to build the capabilities of companies operating in this sector and provide access to global markets, in addition to developing human resources and qualifying young people to work in this field, as well as attracting foreign direct investment, and promoting E-Commerce.

The executive position to strengthen the information infrastructure at the level of the republic was also discussed, especially to accommodate the massive use of the Internet during the current period as a result of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, as well as in the framework of efforts to transform Egypt into a global digital corridor for data and a source of attraction for the largest giant data centers and maintaining Egypt’s strategic position. As a safe passage for submarine cables, as well as working to maximize the state’s role regionally and globally in the field of international communications.
