Safaa Al-Hashem again targets the Egyptians and calls for their deportation...

A number of Kuwaiti National Assembly deputies demanded that the “supply” of all migrant workers be dispensed with immediately, and that they be replaced by retired Kuwaitis, children of Kuwaiti women, or those with undetermined nationality.

The calls come, especially in light of the frequent smuggling operations or the sale of supplies on the black market in the areas of Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan, according to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Rai.

The deputies preferred to identify segments of the people in need of food supplies, so it is illogical to grant supplies to those with high incomes, and the supply must be restricted to those who deserve it from among the citizens, especially the middle and weak classes, noting that smuggling operations exploit the surplus that the well-off do not need.

While the deputies called for combating corruption and preventing supply smuggling in general, MP Safaa Al-Hashem believed that the solution to smuggling supplies lies in dispensing with “Egyptian workers” specifically in managing the supply and seeking assistance from Kuwaitis and retirees.

Al-Hashem told Al-Rai newspaper, “The Ministry of Trade is required to put in place an accurate and strict automated system in calculating the quantities in particular for some families who do not buy all their needs for the month because the surplus goes to the Egyptian and Bengali workers, and is sold in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and Khaitan and is smuggled into their country.”

Al-Hashem confirmed that she had warned the Minister of Trade and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan several times about this matter, telling him that playing in the supply chain had reached an extent that could not be tolerated.

And she called for specifying the segments of those who really deserve the provision, saying that it is inconceivable that those with higher incomes are equal to the middle class or with those who depend on their monthly salary first-hand.
