Mercedes recalls thousands of cars due to technical defect

The German company, Mercedes, announced in Stuttgart today, Wednesday, the recall of thousands of cars to its workshops due to a technical defect.

The company explained that it is possible that leaks may occur in certain cars running on diesel engines of the GLE / GLS class, C, E, S, GLC, CLS and G.

The newspapers “Bild” and “Handelsblatt” reported earlier that the number of cars affected by this defect is more than 800,000 cars worldwide, but Mercedes refused to give statements about the exact number of these cars and indicated that it had already published the recall last November.

The company advised customers who own the cars involved in the recall to be especially careful in driving cars and to limit their use to the minimum necessary until the cars are called to the workshops.

The company stated that it is expected to start replacing the required parts between the middle and end of this month, noting that this date is linked to the availability of components.

In response to a question about the nature of the technical defect, a Mercedes spokesman said it was possible for a coolant pump leakage “between the coolant circuit and the vacuum circuit”.

The spokesman added that if the electronic switching valves are filled with coolant, it cannot be ruled out that a continuous rise in the temperature of the components due to an electrochemical reaction will occur.
