The Iraqi Ministry of Oil signed a contract for the initial principles of the investment project “Al-Faw Refinery”, and the construction of a petrochemical complex described as the largest in the oil industry in the country.وقال Ihsan Abdul-Jabbar Ismail Iraqi Oil Minister During his sponsorship of the signing ceremony of the agreement with the Chinese side: “The contract is the largest project for the energy industry in Iraq, and the capacity of the project is 300,000 barrels per day, while the capacity of the petrochemical complex is 3 million tons.”

Minister Ismail added: “The project will enhance Iraq’s role in manufacturing and petrochemical industries, stressing the importance of enhancing the role of global investments in manufacturing and petrochemical industries,” according to the Iraqi Oil Ministry’s page.

The Iraqi minister pointed out the importance of the project in providing products with modern specifications, saying: “The contract, whose investments range from 7-8 billion dollars to 29 billion dollars, was the result of efforts made by ministers, agents and concerned departments over the past years.”

He described the contract as “the huge oil industry”, and that it would enhance Iraq’s role in this field.
