Turkey’s Financial Crimes Investigation Bureau has imposed a fine on local cryptocurrency exchange Binance of 8 billion liras due to violations discovered during checks, Anadolu Agency reported on Saturday.

Anadolu said the fine imposed on the platform’s owner, BN Technology, is the first of its kind since the bureau took charge of supervising crypto asset service providers in May. The agency did not give further details about the violations or the checks.BN Technology did not respond to an emailed request for comment, and the Financial Crimes Investigations Bureau could not be reached for comment.
