An Ariane 5 rocket carrying two communications satellites lifted off from the Kourou spaceport in French Guiana, the European space company Arianespace said.
The European operator said the missile was originally supposed to take off on Saturday morning, but the launch was delayed by a day for additional control. One of the two satellites Arianespace put into orbit was Syracuse 4A, which was developed for the French Ministry of the Armed Forces.
“With this new success of Ariane 5, which comes one week after a previous launch, Arianespace is pleased to serve the interests of two loyal customers, operator SES and the French Ministry of Armed Forces,” said company president Stefan Israel.
