Travel advice Italy tightened

The travel advice for Italy will be tightened from yellow (security risks) to orange on Wednesday, which means that all unnecessary travel is advised against. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reports that this measure is being taken because the number of coronavirus infections throughout Italy has increased. Anyone who has been to Italy must be in home quarantine for ten days.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte on Sunday tightened national coronavirus restrictions. Cinemas, theaters, gyms and swimming pools must all close under the new rules. Furthermore, restaurants and cafes must stop serving at 6pm.

The travel advice for a number of federal states of Austria will also be changed from yellow to orange on Wednesday. These are the states of Carinthia, Burgenland, Steiermark and the region of Ost-Tirol. As a result, the whole of Austria is color-coded orange on Wednesday and it is recommended to travel to Austria only if necessary and not for tourist trips. Exceptions are the municipalities of Hinterriss and Jungholz in the state of Tyrol and the municipality of Kleinwalsertal / Mittelberg in the state of Vorarlberg.

From Wednesday, travelers must be in home quarantine for ten days when they return to the Netherlands after a stay in Austria. This must also be done when flying to the Netherlands from an Austrian airport. Motorists in transit are obliged to continue in one go. Only short breaks at petrol stations are allowed.
