Wizz Air Abu Dhabi Economic Aviation has obtained an official line operating license from the UAE General Authority of Civil Aviation, according to the Emirates News Agency website, Saturday.

Who is Wizz Air Abu Dhabi?

It is a joint venture that began last March between the Abu Dhabi Development Holding Company, known as the holding (ADQ), and Hungary’s Waze Air for Economic Aviation, according to the Abu Dhabi Development Company’s statement on its website.

The project relies on operating flights in Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Africa, according to the same statement.

The company was supposed to start its flights on October 1, and then decided to postpone twice, the first to October 16 and the second to November 15 due to travel restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic, according to a report by the UAE newspaper The National in September.

Wizz Air Abu Dhabi will be the sixth airline of the Emirates, along with Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia, flydubai and Arabia Abu Dhabi Aviation, according to the National report.
