The New and Renewable Energy Authority in Egypt contracted with the “Vestas” company to design, supply and install the 252-megawatt Gulf of Suez 1 wind station project in the Gulf of Suez.

Accordingly, “Vestas” will supply and install 70 V105-3.45 MW wind turbines with a capacity of 3.6 megawatts each, with a warranty period of (AOM 4000) for a period of three years from the date of completion of work completion and start of operation, with commitment The limitations of the permissible height in the area, and the requirements of the national electricity grid.

The project also benefits from the experiences of “Vestas”, whose projects implemented to design, supply, and construct (EPC) more than 4 gigawatts around the world. The project is in the national grid.

The annual production of this project is expected to reach 1,027 gigawatt hours of clean energy. According to the New and Renewable Energy Authority, carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced by about 560 thousand tons annually.

The project will be financed jointly by the European Investment Bank, the German Re-Development Credit Bank, the French Development Agency, and the European Commission, which are part of the European Partners for Development group.

It is noteworthy that the “Vestas” company was one of the first contributors to developing the infrastructure for wind-generated energy in Egypt, through its establishment of 123

Vestas currently has facilities ready or under construction with a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts in the countries of the Middle East and North Africa, including the UAE, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Morocco, Senegal and Cape Verde.

In light of the growing number of renewable energy projects planned or under implementation, and the ambitious goals to increase the contribution of renewable energy, this region has become one of the most promising global players in the global transition towards new energy sources.

It is planned that the “Gulf of Suez 1” wind station will start operating at full production capacity in 2023.
