Amazon says it chose palm versus facial recognition because it is safer. Vice President Dilip Kumar wrote in the ad: “One reason is that palmistry is more private than some biosimilars, because you cannot identify a person by looking at Palm image. ”

It also requires someone to make an intentional gesture by placing their palm on the device to use it, which is not touching the hand, and in the end, using the palm as a biometric identifier gives customers control over when and where they use the service.

Although Amazon did not provide details of how the technology works in the advertisement, the patent shows that the scanner consists of an infrared light source, a controller and a camera.

Users simply bring their items to the registry and wave their hands through the scanner to complete the purchase, and this data will then be linked to the bank information of the beneficiaries, which means that customers will be able to surrender their hands to the scanner and complete the transaction in less than a second.
