Two vehicles loaded with a large amount of prohibited material have been seized during the periodic inspection tours conducted by the inspection teams at the Sharjah Municipality, translating its efforts to reduce negative behaviour and distortions of the general appearance.
The amount of the seized material estimated at 13 tonnes were on the way for storing to be promoted and sold, an official at the Sharjah Municipality said.
Khaled Al Suwaidi, Assistant Director General for the Customer Service Division, stated that the municipality intensified its inspection campaigns during the month of Ramadan, to monitor any negative acts and follow up on the observations received through the call centre.
The campaigns resulted in the seizure of two vehicles loaded with prohibited material. The first vehicle's load amounted to 7,201kg and the second to 5,210kg. They were seized when their owner was about to store them in a bakery in one of the Sharjah city areas, he added.
Al Suwaidi also said that the necessary measures were taken against the owner of the goods, while the two vehicles were fined and the seized material destroyed, in cooperation with the Sharjah Environment Company (Bee'ah).
Al Suwaidi praised the efforts of the inspection teams and their vigilance in controlling everything that harms members of society and negatively affects their health, appealing to the public to contact the municipality through the call centre on 993, to report any negative act.
