Sharjah has issued a circular for workers in the food establishments to get PCR test done every two weeks.

The Sharjah City Municipality (SCM) has intensified their inspection visits to food establishments to ensure their commitment to preventive measures.

The workers of these establishments are obligated to take the PCR test every two weeks except for those vaccinated within the national vaccination program and volunteers in Clinical trials of COVID-19 vaccines, and whoever has an asterisk or letter E in Al Hosn App. Stickers must be displayed to show that the workers have taken the vaccine or has a negative PCR test.

Sharjah has increased its inspection to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic. It has also raised health awareness among their workers.

The municipality stressed on the preventive measures that should be taken at the food establishments such as keeping social distancing of at least two meters between dining tables, and not allowing more than 4 people at a table except for the same family.

The Sharjah Department of Economic Development shut down a women’s salon and a hypermarket in the emirate due to their failure to abide by the decisions related to preventive and precautionary measures and regulations to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The shutdown decision was taken during the inspection tours and campaigns continuously carried out by the Commercial Control and Protection Department in co-operation with all competent authorities in the emirate to ensure the safety of all economic practices in the emirate’s economic establishments.

More efforts are being currently made by the department to ensure that all establishments abide by the instructions and circulars issued recently by the department and by the precautionary and preventive measures.

The department stated that the shutdown facilities committed a number of violations which showed that they were not committed to implementing the decisions related to preventive measures and precautionary regulations. These included exceeding the specified capacity of the facility and failing to abide by physical distancing rules.

Meanwhile, the department is calling on the public to communicate with it in the event of any violation through the hotline 80080000 or by visiting the consumer protection website: www.shjconsumer.ae.
