The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced an African woman to 3 months in prison and fined her Dhs200,000 on charges of possessing counterfeit dollars and defrauding an Asian seller.

 

She was also asked to pay for the items she purchased using fake bills and will be deported after serving her punishment. 

 

According to the details the case took place in a store that sells electronics and accessories.

 

The convict and one of her compatriot came to inquire about the value of some of the displayed phones, then they left the store.

 

After two hours the convict and her friend returned to pay for two phones, three watches, a men's and women’s perfume each and paid in US dollars.

 

According to the statement of the amount in the case papers, the convict paid $1,000 for the the purchases.

 

However, the seller was shocked to find that the dollar bills were fake when he went to exchange the currency.

 

He immediately informed the competent authorities.

 

According to the Dubai Police forensic report and the examination of the store's cameras, the convict and her companion were identified.
