Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid has wished the people of the UAE a happy Eid Al Adha.

The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai offered his wishes on Twitter, praying for "happiness and harmony" for all.

“Happy Eid to everyone, happy Eid to our country and people,” tweeted Sheikh Mohammed.

“May our future be bright. May all the people of the world live in happiness and harmony and prosperity.”

Eid Al Adha falls on July 30 and lasts until August 2 this year, giving most of the UAE’s workers a four-day weekend.

Authorities have called on the public to adhere to safety measures while celebrating Eid.

People should pray at home as mosques and Eid public praying areas will remain closed.

Home visits must be limited to first and second-degree relatives and people should wear face masks and keep a minimum distance of two metres from one another.
