YouTube continues to write Google’s success story, as the platform revealed that there are now more than two million content creators who are able to make money and build their businesses on YouTube.
According to Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai, YouTube has surpassed 50 million music and premium subscribers, including those in trial, and YouTube shor continues to see higher adoption rates.
“Last year, the average number of first-time creators doubled daily, there’s a lot more to come, including leveraging commerce on YouTube,” Pichai said during the company’s earnings call late Tuesday.
“From shoppable live-streaming experiences with retailers like Sephora, Target and Walmart, to pilots watching us live from our creators’ favorite videos, we’re still in the early stages of what’s possible,” he added.
In the July-September quarter, YouTube reported $7.2 billion in ad revenue – up 43% due to strength in both direct response and brand advertising, and more than 2 million creators are now making money and building their YouTube businesses through the YouTube Partner Program in 10 ways. Different for monetization – their content from Super Chat to BrandConnect.
Google said YouTube is becoming increasingly more accessible to television, and for Pichai, YouTube is unique in that it is real video – the first original video product from day one.
