Cyberpunk 2077 leaks: So far no Day 1 patch

The long-awaited sci-fi role-playing game Cyberpunk 2077 from developer CD Projekt Red will not appear until December 10th, but apparently the first copies have been sent to pre-orderers. For example, a fan who ordered the Collector’s Edition for the Playstation 4 received it within yesterday’s day. He then shared two pictures via Reddit as evidence.

Cyberpunk 2077: A Huge Day 1 Patch?

The user interface of the Playstation 5 can be seen on one of the evidence images and under the menu item “Downloads / Copies”, Cyberpunk 2077 appears (buy now 58.19 €) listed. At first glance, however, the displayed progress bar gives cause for concern: The large value “56.325 GB” is emblazoned here. The Twitter account @GameLeaksRumors then understood this to mean that this would have to be a Day 1 patch that would be downloaded as soon as one wanted to play the title. Cyberpunk 2077: CDPR wants to avoid spoilers after leaksFabian Döhla, PR and social media guru at CD Projekt Red, gave the all-clear. In a tweet he explained that the almost 56 GB could not be a Day 1 patch. This would not even exist yet. This would also be quite unusual, because usually such updates – according to the name – are only activated for digital and physical versions on the first day of the release. So the 56 GB is just a copy process that begins as soon as the installation disc is inserted into the console’s drive. Cyberpunk 2077 appears for consoles in the disc version, namely on two Blu-rays.
