Samsung has brought the cell phone back into the future with the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G: the smartphone that can be unfolded into a 7.6-inch tablet for a larger and more functional everyday screen experience. The Galaxy Z Fold2 is now the newest model in the Samsung Galaxy Fold series. The iconic silhouette opens and closes like a book. This new design features cutting-edge technology such as the high-tech hinge that connects the two panels and an ultra-thin glass touchscreen that is thinner than human hair.
To demonstrate the Z Fold2, we gave a phone to four Highsnobiety employees in four different areas: Style Editor, Photographer, Videographer and Creative Director. Each employee shared what they loved about the phone and how it helped them with their tasks. Check out their answers below.
1. Graeme Campbell, Style Editor
“I write a lot on my phone, especially when I’m out and about during press trips and fashion week. Writing on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G is the closest thing to an actual computer. I often use Microsoft Office Suite to write editorials and presentations with Word and PowerPoint. These work so easily on the phone that several apps can even be open at the same time. The user interface is easy to navigate, and the fact that it can be easily folded and stowed away saves a lot of pocket space. The ideal phone to get things done. “
2. Julien Tell, Photographer
“I used the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold2 5G camera to leisurely take photos of the outdoors as well as a still life in the HS studio. What impressed me the most was the exact detail that the camera was able to capture. I mainly played around with the macro and depth of field effects to bring out small details of a subject that would normally not be seen with a normal phone camera. I found these functions to be quite powerful.
Recording in “flex mode” was also convenient. The benefit of having two screens for a shoot allows you to take photos on one screen and at the same time get a reference of the shots already taken, which I found very useful for planning the next shots. “
3. Sian O’Flaherty, Creative Director
“A big part of my day is finding visual references and photography to create mood boards for upcoming highsnobiety shots. Therefore, the multi-active showcase of the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G has fundamentally changed the game for me. In essence, it acts as a mini mood board in my pocket where I can view many different images on a big screen and overlay them like when creating a mood board. My favorite feature is the blending feature, which allows you to overlay pictures and simply drag and drop them on top of each other for a really creative feeling that I’ve never achieved with a phone before. I also love the big screen to look at mood pictures and find inspiration. “
Louie McPherson, Videografin
“Putting a screen like this in your pocket is wild. The camera is amazing and when I can edit and share easily on such a big screen, I can work anywhere. I’m also really looking forward to trying their hands out for longer – Free Camera Mode which is a pretty crazy little tool that will definitely improve the way I work. As soon as I open the phone into tablet mode, all the apps adapt in no time to any window I need to work, which is good when I have around 100 tabs open at the same time. “
Seamless UI / UX design, powerful camera, ideal for multitasking. It’s the perfect phone to connect more deeply to a world that inspires you endlessly. See for yourself!
