Xiaomi has a plan to become the new king of photography...

There was a time when Xiaomi’s standard-bearers offered performance comparable to that of other high-end smartphones (like those from Samsung) but without exceeding these when it comes to the quality of the cameras. Gradually, however, “Xiaomi Mi” smartphones have moved upmarket and today the Xiaomi Mi 10 Ultra is the second best smartphone for taking photos and videos, just behind Huawei’s Mate 40 Pro.

And obviously, Xiaomi will continue to bet on cameras and could even become the new king of photography. Indeed, as reported by the Android Authority site, the Chinese manufacturer has just presented a new sensor, of a whole new kind, which could significantly improve the quality of the images taken with its devices.

The media describes this new camera as a telescopic lens with a large aperture. The light captured would increase by 300% thanks to this sensor and the clarity would be improved by 20%. However, some data is not yet known, such as the quality of the zoom on this sensor.

Otherwise, in terms of design, this sensor resembles the cameras of point and shoot cameras. And if this reminds you of anything, it’s normal since Samsung has already tried something similar with its Galaxy K Zoom.

Innovations multiply at Xiaomi

But for the moment, it is not known when the Chinese manufacturer will use this new sensor on one of its commercial models. In any case, this is not the first time that Xiaomi has given us an overview of the technologies that are being developed in its R&D laboratories.

For example, Xiaomi has already shown a prototype foldable smartphone that folds in three. But so far there is no business model from the manufacturer using this technology yet. According to rumors, it could finally hit the market in 2021.

Otherwise, Xiaomi is also one of the manufacturers who is developing a smartphone with a front camera that is hidden under the screen. And the manufacturer has already announced that it will start mass-producing this model from next year.

And when it comes to fast charging, whether wired or wireless, Xiaomi is also developing some interesting technologies.

Otherwise, we recall that with the Mi Note 10 and the Mi 10 series, Xiaomi is one of the first manufacturers to use Samsung’s 108-megapixel camera. Moreover, rumors suggest that the manufacturer is preparing to launch an affordable smartphone from the Redmi Note range which will be equipped with this camera (and a 120 Hz screen).
