Sony has already provided an official rendition of its PlayStation 5 that fits perfectly with the tech giant’s culture. In the video, a man takes the machine apart clinically, piece by piece, in a very white room for seven minutes. It gave players a chance to look at every noticeable part of the machine before bringing it home, including the seemingly easy-to-remove white plastic flaps on either side. While many assumed this would lead to official and unofficial customization options, Sony has already stopped trying to sell console shells for its hardware.
Brazillian YouTuber Detonating Gueek delivers the Xbox side of the teardown equation for now, albeit unofficially. The Gueek detonation shows that only two screws and a panel need to be removed to reveal the innards of Microsoft’s most powerful console. There is almost no room to breathe on the back, as the drives are stacked on SSDs, as is particularly well made Resident Evil 4 Inventory. Detonating Gueek begins pulling the pieces out and even reveals a hidden secret, a small Master Chief helmet symbol printed on the fan on top of the device. Considering how important Halo Infinite would be at one point about starting the console, which is a nice touch.
While the fan comes off easily thanks to its simple PC-like connector, the rest of the hardware is wrapped up enough for the video host not to remove it. It also shows the vertical stand on top of the console, which has been confirmed as an integral part of the Xbox Series X outer shell. With that said, all of the Xbox hardware is so accessible that the console is relatively easy to clean, especially for gamers who already have air cans from the PC battle station ready.
Just over a week until the start of the Xbox Series X. In North America, it’s nice to get a glimpse of where each buyer’s money is really going. The X Series seems like a powerhouse because of its innards, which are tightly packed and ventilated with a console-sized fan on top and holes throughout. While it’s unclear whether the rumored heating issues will actually show up when gamers bring them into their homes, most signs point to smooth sailing and amazing-looking 4K games for next-generation buyers.
