Jimmy Bartel’s soccer shoe store, XBlades, went bankrupt just four years after its investment.

The 36-year-old’s business was turned over to a bankruptcy firm, according to a Herald Sun report on Friday.

The company was founded in 1989 by Bill Spyros and at the height of its success, its spiked boots were worn by iconic sports stars like David Beckham.

But Spyros resigned as director in July, which marked the beginning of the end of the decades-long deal.

According to Herald Sun, Jimmy claimed he was just a “silent investor” and “hasn’t had a business in two years.”

He already invested in the company in 2016 and announced that he had put his “own money” into the company.

In a statement from XBlades, Jimmy gave up his “long partnership” with Adidas to work with the company.

The former Australian soccer player has been named product development director and developed the latest shoe lines.

Jimmy first donned a pair of XBlades when he was 13 and said he wanted to make the brand “a little cooler”.

“I believe so much that I actually put my own money into it,” he said at the time.

“This is not a message or” getting the brand under control, “I really believe in XBlades and they were my first footy boots when I started at Bell Park as a junior.”

He added, “I know boots, I’ve spent too many hours in foot boots.”
