Which one should you choose – Glastrier vs Spectrier

Glastrier and Spectrier are two new Legendary Pokémon available in the Pokemon Sword and Shields Crown Tundra DLC.
However, only one will be available during your playthrough. So choose wisely!
Glastrier is an ice Pokemon with a high level of attack and defense at the expense of speed.
Calyice.jpgSpectrier is a ghost Pokemon with high special attack and high speed but low defense.
Spectrier.jpgGlastrier is required for Calyrex to enter its Ice Rider shapegranting him Ice / Psychic Typing and the physical attack Glacial Lance. This exclusive attack deals 130 base damage, has an accuracy of 100 and 5 PP.
A Spectrier is required for Calyrex to enter its Shadow Rider formwhich grants him Ghost / Psychic Typing and the Special Attack Astral Barrage. This exclusive attack deals 120 base damage, has an accuracy of 100 and 5 PP.
The basic stats for each Pokemon are as follows:
Iceroot Carrot-Glastrier Shaderoot Carrot – Spectrier
HP 100 100
attack 145 65
defense 130 60
Special attack 65 145
Special defense 110 80
speed 30 130
Note: The above statistics represent the basic statistics for each Glastrier and Spectrier Not when they connect to Calyrex.
So which is the better option? Well, that depends on the makeup of your team or your specific style of play.
Spectrier is a very fast-paced Ghost-type Pokemon and benefits from its STAB moves, Shadow Ball and Hex. However, these are the only two special attacks that can be learned without using TM / TRs, which limits its effectiveness.

Spectrier can type better, however, as Ghost-type Pokemon are only weak to Ghost and Dark, resistant to poison and beetles, and immune to Fighting and Normal-type Pokemon.
Glastrier is a powerful attacker with solid attack, defense and special defenses. However, due to its slow speed, it is almost always a follower attacker. His moveset is cheaper as he learns a lot more physical attacks that his stats can use.

However, the pure ice typing of Glastrier makes it very unfavorable. Ice has four weaknesses: battle, rock, steel, and fire; No immunity and only resistant to other Ice-Type Pokémon.
Overall, Spectrier is the better option of the two – as long as you have some other specialty moves you can teach him to take advantage of special attack and speed in combat.
