The United World Wrestling association have name Egyptian Greco-Roman wrestler Mohamed Ibrahim El-Sayed as the best U-23 wrestler of 2019.

Ibrahim has had yet another successful year after lifting the World Championship title for the second year running after beating Belarus’ Alieksandr Liavonchky 9-0 in the final.

During the tournament El-Sayed averaged a stunning nine points during throughout the five games.

Additionally, he was also able to secure a spot in the 2020 Olympics as he finished fifth in the 2019 World Championships that took place in Kazakhstan.

The Greco-Roman wrestling event in the Tokyo Olympics will take place between August 2nd and August 9th and he will look to bring Egypt’s first wrestling Olympic medal since Karam Gaber’s silver medal in the 2012 London Olympics.

This will allow him to join a list of legendary Egyptian wrestlers who were able to stand on the podium during the summer events, namely Ibrahim Mostafa (1928), Mahmoud Hassan (1984), Ibrahim Orabi (1984), Abdelaal Rashed (1952), Osman Sayed (1960) and Karam Gaber (2004 and 2012).
