The German Mario Gotze, the 2014 FIFA World Cup champion, praised Joachim Loew, the former coach of the national team, who had a farewell party yesterday, Thursday.
Goetze became an international player at the age of 18, and scored the goal of the German national team in the 2014 World Cup final against Argentina, which ended with Germany’s 1-0 victory, after he participated as a substitute.
“Joachim Loew was an important coach for me, as he put a lot of confidence in me at the beginning of my career,” Goetze told “Sport1”. “I celebrated my biggest success with him and his staff, and I am very grateful to him.”
“I wish him the best in the future, a lot of satisfaction and I hope he is satisfied with what he has accomplished,” he added.
Loew resigned from his position after 15 years, which he spent in training the German national team, after the German national team was eliminated from the round of 16 at the European Championship “Euro 2020”, which was held last summer. And he received an official farewell party by the German Football Association before the match against Liechtenstein, which was held yesterday.
Gotze, 29, played his 63rd international match and his last so far four years ago. He suffered from health problems and injuries and is currently playing with PSV Eindhoven.
