Egyptian Premier League club ENPPI have announced that first team head coach Helmy Toulan has been tested positive for COVID-19 following a round of medical swab testing for the entire squad.
Toulan has been ENPPI coach for the past year and a half, when he was appointed as the team manager in October 2019 replacing Ali Maher.
ENPPI released an official statement on Wednesday saying that Toulan tested positive for coronavirus in the team’s round of testing ahead of Entag El-Harby encounter in the Egyptian Premier League.
As a result, he won’t be able to be on the touchline in the game.
“Toulan is the keenest person in applying the precautionary measures,” ENPPI said in their statement.
“The swab test has also confirmed that team player Mostafa Shalaby has also contracted the virus and will miss the game. While Salah Rico and Ramy Sabry have recovered to be available for the game.”
ENPPI currently occupy the eighth place in the league table after collecting 18 points from 11 matches.
