Since his arrival at the Riverside Stadium, Morsy has become an integral part of Neil Warnock’s squad, making 24 appearances, while assisting three times.
A usual start for the Egyptian took place on Saturday as eighth-placed Middlesbrough travelled to face fifth Reading away from home.
Warnock’s men sealed the three points in the first-half through goals from Ashley Fletcher and Marc Bola in the 22nd and 29th minute.
Bola’s strike came after he was teed up by Sam Morsy, for the former Arsenal youngster to lash the ball home from 18 yards.
This marks Morsy’s fourth assist of the season, equalling his personal record of most league assists in one season which came with Wigan during the 17/18 season in the League One.
Moreover, Morsy made five successful tackles, more than any other player on the pitch and the same amount of all the Reading’s starting XI combined.
The victory maintained the Boro spot at eighth place with 46 points as they now sit just three points away from the promotion playoffs.
Their next game will see them host 15th Bristol City at the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday, February 23.
