Former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher has criticised the Liverpool players for their attitude following their shock defeat to Burnley at Anfield in the 19th round of the English Premier League.

Liverpool received their first defeat in 2021 after their 1-0 upset against Burnley at home to drop further points in the race to defend the Premier League title.

The Reds have been struggling since the beginning of the year, having been without a win in their last five games. They now trail behind the league leaders Manchester United with six points difference.

Salah has been one of the players who have delivered underwhelming performances in the past few games. The Egypt star did not start his team’s game against Burnley and failed to make an impact after coming as a substitute in the second half.

“I can’t remember a time when this Liverpool team have been so out of form. The front three and the full-backs – all five of them – don’t feel anywhere near their best,” Carragher said.

“It’s not just that they’re not scoring, it’s the general play as well. You saw with Salah, three or four times he just ran into defenders.”

“Liverpool supporters will be massively frustrated. This team has brought the title back but the best Liverpool teams have brought that standard year in year out.”

Salah’s form this season has been quite inconsistent this season, even though he already has 17 goals to his name.

He has been unable to score in his last five league appearances and will hope to return to scoring ways in the FA Cup clash against Manchester United.
