- Yasmine El Tohamy - Former Al Ahly striker, Emad Meteb, gave some advice to the current players ahead of their Club World Cup campaign, set to start in February.

The tournament is set to take place between February 1st and February 11th in Qatar with three stadiums set to host the games: Ahmad Bin Ali, Khalifa International and Education City stadiums.

The opening match was supposed to be between Qatari champions Al Duhail and Auckland City of New Zealand. However, Auckland announced their withdrawal from the competition due to COVID-19.

As a result, the first round will no longer take place and Al Duhail will begin the competition from the second round, where they were drawn against African champions Al Ahly.

Emad Meteb, who played in four of the Red Devils’ previous five appearances at the Club World Cup, said that in order for the players to achieve something special, they must take it one game at a time.

“Don’t think about participating in the Club World Cup now,” he told OnTime Sports TV

Al Ahly

“I participated in the Club World Cup four times, and we made a mistake. When we said that we would win the tournament, we got sixth place.

“When we did not think about it and removed the pressure from ourselves, we got third place.

“Manuel Jose, the historic Al-Ahly coach, told us this tournament is a tribute to you for winning the CAF Champions League. Enjoy the biggest event and think of each match individually.

“I say to the players, don’t think about meeting Al Duhail or Bayern Munich, think about the Pyramids meeting, then enjoy the World Cup, and let’s see how far you will go.

Al Ahly

“Deal with each match according to its own circumstances, and let us see what happens,” he concluded.

Al Ahly still have one game left in the Egyptian Premier League, against Pyramids FC, before they travel to Qatar.

If they manage to come out victorious against Al-Duhail on February 4th, they will face European champions Bayern Munich in the semi-finals.
