Thank you for reading the news about Al Ahly dealt blow as star misses Club World Cup and now with the details

- Yasmine El Tohamy - Cairo giants Al Ahly have announced that their start playmaker Walid Soliman has sustained a major injury in his hamstring muscle that will keep him away from the team’s squad in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in February.

Al Ahly slipped in the Egyptian Premier League after dropping two points against newly-promoted Bank Al Ahly following a goalless draw on Sunday.

They have now recorded their second draw in the league this season after dropping points against Wadi Degla in the fourth round.

The Red Devils lost veteran star Walid Soliman during the game after he was taken off in the first half due to a muscular injury.

Soliman’s injury later on turned out to be more serious than initially thought.

Al Ahly football director Sayed Abdelhafiz announced that medical tests carried out by the 34-year-old have showed a tear in his hamstring muscle.

Soliman is set to be sidelined for at least four weeks, which means he won’t be able to catch the FIFA Club World Cup which is set to commence on February 4.

The former Petrojet playmaker featured for the Red Devils in four games this season, scoring three goals and assisting three others.

Al Ahly’s next game will be against 17th-placed Arab Contractors in the league’s eighth round on Thursday, January 21st.
