Thank you for reading the news about St. Pauli defender heaps praise on Egypt’s Omar Marmoush and now with the details

- Yasmine El Tohamy - St. Pauli defender Daniel Buballa has hailed Egypt international Omar Marmoush following their draw against Holstein Kiel.

Marmoush made his second appearance for St. Pauli on Saturday as they faced Holstein Kiel in matchday 15 of the 2.Bundesliga.

On his first start for the club, Marmoush broke the deadlock for St. Pauli in the 52nd minute when he hit a vicious strike into the back of the net to give his side the lead.

The 23-year-old’s strike on Saturday marked his first professional goal in Germany since his move from Wadi Degla to Wolfsburg back in 2017.

However, St. Pauli’s lead lasted for just ten minutes as Holstein Kiel forward Joshua Mees managed to grab the equalizer after the hour mark.

“We go out aiming to keep a clean sheet every week. We want to defend well, so it hurts all the more as a defender when you concede,” Buballa said after the game.

“All in all, we defended well today, it has to be said. We operated as a team and attacked the ball with everything we had.

“The new lads settled in really well and showed what they can do straight away. Omar [Marmoush] brought his quality to the pitch and helped the team today.

“He was assured on the ball, dribbled with aggression and scored a magnificent goal. It’s a bit frustrating that he didn’t make it 2-0.

“It wasn’t down to one player today, it was a team performance. We have to build on it and take some points from the next few games,” he added.

The draw takes St. Pauli to their 10th point after 15 games played in the 2.Bundesliga table.

St. Pauli’s next game will be away against former top-flight side Hannover 96 in league’s 16th round on Saturday, January 16th.
