TRIBUTES were paid to an “inspirational” kitesurfer who tragically died during Storm Aiden over the weekend.

Ger Fennelly, 39, died after getting into trouble in the water on Dollymount Strand in Dublin on October 31.

Ger was an experienced kitesurfer who has been in the sport for 14 years

Ger’s broken hearted sister, Elaine Fennelly, took to social media and shared a photo of her brother.

She said, “Words cannot express how we all feel.

“I lost my best friend, my stone, an idleness to Calvin. Fly high with the angels, brother, I loved you so much. ”

Family and friends flooded the comments to offer condolences to Ger’s sister, parents and the extended family.

One person wrote: “I am so sorry to hear this terrible news, Elaine, which was taken from us far too soon and is thinking of you all.”

CLUB TRIBUTE

Ger, who is believed to be from Clontarf, is believed to have run into trouble while attempting a jump, according to sources.

“He completed the Ironman Barcelona in 2018 and delighted many with his performance. He wrote extensively about how he achieved this while simultaneously living with type 1 diabetes.
