The Tour de France will present the route for the 2021 edition this Sunday, but France Bleu says it already knows what the stage schedule looks like. The Grand Départ will be in Brest on Saturday 26 June and the final stage will take the peloton to Paris on Sunday 18 July.

From Brittany to Tignes
On the second day there is an arrival uphill, on the Mûr-de-Bretagne. After the passage through Brittany, the peloton goes straight through France towards the Alps, with a long individual time trial on the fifth day on the first Wednesday. The weekend is colored by two mountain stages with arrivals in Le Grand Bornand and Tignes. The finish at Tignes is a gift for the ski village after the stage in 2019 that never finished due to a hailstorm and mudslides.
Crisscross the Pyrenees
After a rest day in Tignes, the riders leave via Valence to Provence. The ‘Giant of Provence’ cannot be missed: in the eleventh stage, the Mont Ventoux is planned with probably a finish at the bottom of Malaucène. Nîmes and Carcassonne are the stops for the peloton to the Pyrenees. The second week ends with a mountain drive to Andorra, where the last rest day is also.
The day after the rest day, a mountain ride is planned to Saint-Gaudens with possibly the Port de Lers, the Col de la Core and the Portet d’Aspet on the way. The seventeenth stage on the French holiday would then finish again on the Col du Portet, with the Port de Balès and the Col de Peyresourde on the menu before that. The ride to Iraty will also be characterized by Pyrenees cols.
Time trial on the penultimate day
Stage 19 can be seen as a transition stage, because the decision in the general classification will be made a day later in the department of Gironde. The organization opts for an individual time trial of approximately 30 kilometers between Libourne and Saint-Emilion on the last day before Paris.
