Bitter rivalry in Hawk’s head, free agency preview

PAPERWORK for at least three stars in motion could already be submitted on Friday, when the window of the AFL’s free agency is opened.

But a decision by Hawthorn’s three-time winger Isaac Smith his future remains in the air as he ponders deals from Melbourne and Geelong.

The rivalry between Hawks and Cats is believed to have played on his mind during Smith’s career as the electric wingman contemplates moving on the freeway.

Smith’s decision will also affect Hawthorn’s move to Adelaide’s Kyle Hartigan freelance agency.

Hawthorn will sign Hartigan, but if Smith leaves as a free agent, the Hawks could be forced to pick up the Crows defender under a trade deal to avoid diluting their compensation from the Free Agency. If Smith stays, the club is expected to sign Hartigan as an unrestricted free agent for two years.

Carlton is expected to officially nominate the Giants midfielder Zac Williams as a free agent, while Brisbane is likely to make its official offer for Essendon Star Joe Daniher when the gates are opened by the league.

Adelaides Rory Atkins will be able to automatically move to the Suns as an unrestricted free agent once Gold Coast formalizes its deal on Friday. Atkins has been in Queensland for the past few weeks.

St. Kilda is unlikely to make his offer Brad Crouch on Friday as it works through the details of its deal while the cats are unsure whether their papers will be filed for Giants Gun Jeremy Cameron on the opening day or a little later during the time of the free agency.

Hawthorn is also expected to sign the Adelaide defender Kyle Hartigan to a two-year contract as an unrestricted free agent.

Brisbane’s offer to Daniher is expected to run for three or four years. Essendon hopes the size of the contract will trigger a selection for first-round compensation (which would rank 7th overall).

While Geelong waits for Smith, he also waits for an answer from the experienced defense attorney Harry Taylor about his future, but colleague free agent Tom Hawkins almost sealed a two-year contract.

In Brisbane, Grant Birchall hit a trigger for 2021 and will continue to play Stef Martin must wait for the list size to complete before making a new deal.

Essendon has a year-long trigger for Martin Gleeson how he assesses his options while I want to snore and Jacob Townsend have to wait through the trading period to find out their fate.

WHO MOVES? All the latest trade and contract news

Little striker Boyd Woodcock remains Port Adelaide’s sole free agent but is expected to get a new deal on the senior or rookie list depending on the list size breakdown.

Bachar Houli has announced that despite Essendon’s interest, he will re-sign a one-year contract in Richmond while Collingwood, North Melbourne, St. Kilda and Sydney have no outstanding free agents.

At the West Coast, Brendon Ah Chee will likely be retained, however Mark Hutchings and Jamaine Jones were made to wait.

Western Bulldogs couple Lin Jong and Taylor Duryea are in talks with the club about renewals, however the future of Jackson Trengove, Ryan Gardner, Roarke Smith, Matt Suckling and Billy Gowers appear based on the list size and what the club wins during the trading period.

Dockers Veteran David Mundy intends to continue playing in 2021 but no contract has yet been signed as list size continues to be eradicated next year. At Carlton, Eddie Betts A new contract is expected to be imminent while the former Tiger Callum Moore waiting for its future.

However, AFL.com.au. Broad is in the process of signing a new contract to extend his stint on Punt Road.

From two McDonalds to none in Melbourne?

EIN TRIMMED-DOWN Tom McDonald will be forced to wait for decisions forward from other keys, including Ben Brown before settling at his next destination.

Melbourne’s pursuit of Brown has made a “fairly clear statement” that McDonald’s, according to his agent, is dispensable in the Demons’ plans for 2021.

The 28-year-old McDonald has two years left on his contract with the Demons, but is promoting the interest of other clubs.

“The club was great to say ahead of time,” There’s a place for you here, you’re under contract, but there may not be that many options, “said Alex McDonald of Hemisphere Management Commercial radio.

“That will likely happen. I would imagine what the chances for Tom could look like when the first important deals come off. ”

The demons target Brown on a lucrative contract after being told that North Melbourne no longer needs him.

McDonald started his fitness program before the next season and removed several pounds from his body to get more impact on the floor.

“I think it’s a pretty straightforward statement as to whether Ben (Brown) is coming to the club,” his agent said.

“If he drops his weight, he can be a little more mobile. I imagine that Ben (Brown) would only play one position, so Tom would have to play somewhere else or move to another club.

“He (Tom) probably played a little harder than usual (in 2020), that should play a more physical role in the competition. He has already lost two or three kilos, he was over 100 years old. ”

Tom’s brother and defender of the demons Oscar remains without a contract for the next season and is likely to be won as a delisted free agent.

Hemisphere Management also looks after the Collingwood wingman Tom Phillips with the contracted midfielder on the table for competing clubs during this trading period.

The 24-year-old was briefed by trainer Nathan Buckley and list manager Ned Guy that his chances to continue on the wing have “dried up” with the appearance of Josh Daicos.

ARC should play a central role in the trading period

The AFL Review Center, which was used for referee decisions on the goal line throughout the season, will become the trade and free trade center this year.

For at least the early part of this year’s free agency and trading periods, the AFL will set up its base in the ARC, where clubs can submit offers online.

It is a very different situation than in the standard trading period, when new offers and offers for free agencies were personally forwarded to AFL House by list and recruitment managers. However, the restrictions imposed by COVID-19 mean that the transactions will be applied virtually discontinued this year.

Swans turn off Aliir movement

PORT Adelaides moving for Aliir Aliir reached a dead end when Sydney blocked the club’s first attempts to lure the contracted defender to Alberton.

Power Footy boss Chris Davies announced Thursday that the club’s interest in Aliir had “hit a closed door,” but confirmed that this season’s small premieres had asked the versatile 26-year-old’s question.

The Swans are still looking for a Ruckman during this year’s trading period and reportedly inquired about it Scott Lycett and especially Peter Ladhams in a possible deal for Aliir.

However, with Port Adelaide unwilling to change its jerk options and Ladhams determined to stay on its childhood side following his signing through last year through 2022, the deal has hit a significant roadblock.

“I know the discussion between (Port Adelaide List Manager) Jason Cripps and (Sydney List Manager) Kinnear Beatson regarding Aliir was very brief,” Davies told Trade Radio.

“It was a question asked about the potential for him to move or for Sydney to want to move him. I think the reality is that it hit a closed door.

“As for Sydney, Aliir is a Sydney player and if that hasn’t changed it has probably been discussed enough. But it’s fair to say we asked about him. ”

Port Adelaide has expressed a desire to have three full-time ruckmen on its list before 2021, with young people developing Sam Hayes also at the club but not yet AFL debut after breaking his ACL in mid-2018.

Sydney has been scouring the market for alternative options, along with a seasoned big man on the west coast Tom Hickey It is believed that this will be taken into account when the club enters the trading period. – Riley Beveridge
