Ian Wright expects Tottenham star to change role just like Cristiano...

Arsenal legend Ian Wright said he expected Tottenham Hotspur star Gareth Bale to change roles during his second term at the club while speaking about Kelly And Wrighty’s show at Optus Sport.

The Welshman returned to the club where he made a name for himself at Real Madrid last month.

Bale was on the sidelines due to injury but there is a good chance he will return to play against West Ham United this weekend.

Spurs fans will be thrilled to see their star player back on the field. Bale could make a big difference for Tottenham this season if he can repeat his previous form. However, Wright believes the Welshman’s role will be very different now.

The former Arsenal striker claims Bale will be more visible in the front than on the flanks. He says the Welshman will take on a new role, just like Cristiano Ronaldo did in his last years at Real Madrid.

Wright said: “With Bale watching Ronaldo manage his game in the latter stages of his time at Real (Madrid), I think Bale will do so at Spurs.

“I don’t expect him to run all over the field. I expect him to be in the last third and see this explosiveness. We may see some free kicks but he will do his game at the end of the field. ”

Jose Mourinho has to be very careful about managing Bale. The Welshman is no longer the quick, young attacker he once was for Spurs. He is now 31 years old and has been extremely unlucky with injuries in recent years.

Changing roles for Bale is a smart idea. The Welshman can make a real impact for Tottenham as a center forward, as can Ronaldo, who has been number nine for club and country for some time.

However, the presence of Harry Kane makes it difficult for Mourinho to make this change. Bale will have to settle for a seat on the right unless the Spurs boss decides to change his system to accommodate the Englishman and Real Madrid man together.
