Gareth Bale’s former team-mate Casemiro debunked a myth about Tottenham’s summer signing after their time together at Real Madrid.

Bale joined Spurs on loan last month and returned to the club where he became a star before receiving a £ 90m move to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2013.

The Welsh striker’s move to Jose Mourinho ended a summer of speculation about his future when Bale was frozen in Madrid under head coach Zinedine Zidane.

Manchester United was heavily linked to a nosedive for the 31-year-old. Bale was reportedly unsettled in Spain, had barely tried to learn the language and was a loner in the locker room.

There were also plenty of comments on how Bale’s talent was wasted at the La Liga club, with the player being seen as a world beater when he first joined the club.

It was believed at the time that he was on a similar path to Cristiano Ronaldo – who, of course, was considered one of the greatest players of all time, while Bale is rarely described as being in the same bracket.

Now Casemiro, who joined Los Blancos in the same year as Bale, has shown that it was nonsense when Bale doesn’t get along with his teammates – and has hailed the former Southampton star as one of the top five players in the world.

“He got along very well with everyone. When he plays, when he is focused, he is without a doubt one of the best in the world, in the top five, ”the Brazilian midfielder told Defensa Central’s Movistar Plus program Vamos.

Casemiro wished Bale the best of luck on his return to Tottenham and thanked him for his impressive goals, which included a great overhead kick and a 30-yard hit in Madrid’s triumph over Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League final.

“It’s a pleasure to have shared the locker room with someone like him,” said Casemiro.

“I hope Tottenham is going well at this point. I thank you for the ‘Chirlos’ [screamers] You scored in the final. When I think of Gareth, I remember those good times. ”

Bale could make his second Tottenham Premier League debut against West Ham on Sunday.
