“A lot of money has been spent, but has it been spent on the first decisions these managers want? I’m not sure.
“In my opinion [Louis] van Gaal and [Jose] Mourinho especially groaned about this and it’s understandable when they don’t get the players they want.
“I think Ole was supported. I think Maguire at £ 80m is a lot of money [Bruno] Fernandes in January was an excellent signing and the form has been good, especially from Fernandes in January when you felt this team is on the right track. ”
Scholes added, “Towards the end of the season, it’s a lot easier to win games, it’s a lot easier to take a run when the pressure doesn’t really keep.
