Egypt’s Minister of Sports and Youth, Ashraf Sobhi, said that the country is ready to host the upcoming 2020 CAF Champions League semi-finals.

CAF have been looking for a country to host the Champions League semi-finals and the final.

And with Cameroon officially refusing to host these games, other African countries will be looking to take advantage of this opportunity.

This includes Egypt who’s top two teams Al Ahly and Zamalek will be facing Moroccan powerhouses Wydad Casablanca and Raja Casablanca respectively.

The country’s Minister of Sports, Ashraf Sobhi, even said that they are open to hosting the encounters and are in contact with the Egyptian FA.

“The government and the ministry are open to the idea of hosting the remaining games,”

“We contacted Hani Abourida and Amr El-Ganainy to grant them a favor by hosting the remaining Champions league encounters.

“We’re following the situation and gave the green light to the EFA by following our own terms and guidelines.

“The tension between clubs shouldn’t have reached the current situation and even if on party went over the line because they can answer to the law.

“The fans will God willingly protect the image of Egyptian football and we’re following everything,” he added.

Sobhi then discussed the reopening of sports clubs in Egypt, their preparations for the return of football activities and the 2021 Handball World Cup hosted by Egypt.

“We’ve opened all social clubs and they’re monitoring the amount of people allowed in their restaurants. Clubs will be fully functional on July 15th.

“We’re raking all the precautionary measures and respecting all the codes and accordingly all trainings have resumed, while the tournaments will start at the beginning of August.

“We’re helping the EFA in preparing the stadiums that will host some of the games and surely we’ll help them so that everything goes well.

“Egypt will host 32 countries in January for the Handball World Cup and the New Capital’s hall will be one of the venues,” he concluded.
