Thank you for reading the news about Zamalek goalkeeper Awad reveals Mostafa Fathi has coronavirus and now with the details

- Yasmine El Tohamy - Zamalek goalkeeper Mohamed Awad has revealed that his teammate Mostafa Fathi has contracted COVID-19.

Awad had announced last week that he tested positive for coronavirus after undergoing the PCR test conducted by the Egyptian Football Association.

However, Zamalek revealed that the 27-year-old’s second COVID-19 swab test results were negative days later which led many to accuse the goalkeeper of faking his test results to aid the club’s cause to withdraw from the league.

The White Knights’ captains, Hazem Emam and Shikabala, had previously released a statement, revealing that they refuse to resume the current Egyptian Premier League season under any circumstances.

“I can’t imagine that someone would think that I’d pretend to have the virus for the sake of football,” Awad said.

“What do I have to do with the league’s return? My medical condition will certainly not stop it.

“The decision to resume the league is made by authorities and everyone should respect that.

“There are 27 COVID-19 cases among Egyptian Premier League clubs and Mostafa Fathi is one of them, so why is my name the only one being mentioned?” he added.
