Ismaily played out a goalless draw against Ittihad of Alexandria on Sunday as they qualify for the semi-finals of the Arab Club Championship on aggregate.

The Yellows had the upper hand going into this game as they won the first leg against Ittihad of Alexandria 1-0 last month.

Ittihad had a strong start to the game as their first real chance came in the fifth minute as Ahmed Refaat’s low near-post strike went inches wide.

The hosts responded 15 minutes later when Baher El-Mohamady struck the ball near the edge of the box but his effort went high and off target.

In the 28th minute, Ittihad almost took the lead when Khalid Amar rattled the crossbar with a thumping header as Ismaily defenders cleared the ball after the rebound.

Just eight minutes after the break, Ismaily had an opportunity to break the deadlock when Mohamed El-Shami’s curled effort from outside the box glanced the woodwork and went out for a goal kick.

Ismaily will now join Saudi Professional League side Al Shabab as two of the last four teams remaining in the tournament.

They are set to be accompanied by the winners of the matches between MC Alger and Raja Casablanca, and Olympic Club de Safi and Ittihad Jeddah.
