New Pyramids FC manager and former Croatia head coach Ante Cacic has expressed his delight to be part of the club following his appointment on Friday.

Ante Cacic was named Pyramids’ new manager on Friday to replace interim coach Abdel-Aziz Abdel-Shafy.

The 66-year-old will be joined by Ivica Sertic and Andrej Verncina as his assistants and Drago Condic as the goalkeeping coach as part of his backroom staff.

Speaking in a press conference, Cacic acknowledges that there will be huge pressure on his shoulders to succeed at Pyramids.

“I know very well that this club has ambition, especially that Pyramids is one of the clubs that you’ll always find at the top, ” Cacic said.

“I have been following Pyramids lately, reading about them, and watching how they played before I was appointed.

“I hope I can meet the club’s expectations in the upcoming period. The negotiations happened so quickly and I just hope I can lead this team to achieve our goals,” he added.

The former Dinamo Zagreb manager also went on to talk about the time he spent in Africa in the past, where he worked as Libya’s assistant manager between 2005 and 2006.

Pyramids are currently fifth in the Egyptian Premier League standings with 16 points after ten games played.

Cacic’s first game in charge of Pyramids will be on Sunday when they play Al Masry in the CAF Confederation Cup. Kick-off takes place at 18:00 CLT.
