Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - Saudi Gazette report
JEDDAH — Several Yemeni figures have turned against their cause and shifted to the anti-legitimacy camp, under the influence of Qatari temptations, Okaz Arabic daily has disclosed.
The newspaper said that from time to time and via hostile satellite TV channels, several Yemeni ministers, officials and media men have been involved in anti-Coalition campaigns while pushing a Turkish-Qatari agenda.
Among these were ministers Ahmed Al-Maysari, Abdulaziz Jubari and Saleh Al-Jabwani and media men Mukhtar Al-Rahabi and Anees Mansour, Okaz said.
The daily said that these Yemeni figures have a record rampant with contradictions and wavering stances, where personal interests outweigh their adherence to the Yemeni cause.
It blamed Qatar for waging a huge sabotage campaign, exploiting the facilities provided by its ally Turkey to these personalities to live in Turkey.
The newspaper added that some of them continued to pretend that they were still with the Yemeni legitimate government. An example is Anees Mansour, who presents himself as a media adviser for the Yemeni Embassy in Riyadh.
He had earlier been sacked from his job, following his shift in stance by working with the Qatari government against the legitimate Yemeni government.
The paper has accused the authorities in Doha for hiring these mouthpieces and taking them to Istanbul, which has been turned into a center for hostile Qatari media campaigns against Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
The Turkish city has become the seat of new Yemeni TV channels and platforms with Qatari funding, devoted to partisan, factional and regional discourse.
These are attempts to divide Yemeni ranks; some supporting the Houthis, others the Muslim Brotherhood, still others supporting dividing Yemen and inciting all against the legitimacy and the Coalition.
The most recent of these is a satellite TV channel launched last month under the name “Al-Maheerah”.
The paper said that Ahmed Al-Maisari, who was chairman of the committee for disbursing salaries to the army and security and then became Minister of Agriculture in former Prime Minister Bin Dagher’s government, has shifted to working with Qatar.
Earlier, he kept wavering and shifting stances. The fact that he used to call for unity and then for secession showed his unreliability. He is now promoting secession, under Qatari temptations.
The same is the case with Abdulaziz Jubari, who was working within the ranks of Yemeni President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi’s government. But he too turned against him and against the legitimacy.
Earlier, he occupied many posts in the legitimate government including adviser to the president.
One of the observers said: “There is also Saleh Al-Jabwani, who was earlier in the Southern Movement (Al-Hiraak Al-Janoubi). Then he turned against the Southern Movement and supported the Houthis. He then joined the legitimate government and became a minister.”
The observer drew attention to the fact that Al-Jabwani too has turned against his colleagues and shifted camp for the fourth time. Today he has turned against his colleagues and shifted sides to work with Qatar and Turkey.
Qatar has set up several Yemeni satellite TV channels and news websites, transmitting from Istanbul and placed them under the management of a number of Yemeni advisers and media persons.
Examples are Al-Maheerah TV channel that appeared last month, calling for dividing Yemen. Before that, there was Belqees satellite TV channel belonging to the Yemeni Muslim Brotherhood, operated from Istanbul by Tawakkul Karman, who is under the payroll of Qatar.
Qatar launched the latest of its anti-Coalition stations — the Yemeni Al-Maheerah Channel that transmits from Istanbul — on Friday, March 20, 2020.
Specialists in Yemeni affairs say that Al-Maheerah TV Channel is promoting the Muslim Brotherhood agenda in Yemen, aiming to stir up tribal and regional strife, which in turn serves the Houthi militias.
In a statement it published on its website, the satellite channel’s management said: “Through our network of correspondents, we will cover all the provinces and governorates of Yemen, starting from the eastern provinces of Al-Maharah and Socotra to the whole of Yemen.”
Journalists from Al-Jazeera Channel, including Samir Al-Nimri, are taking part and contributing to this channel.
