Hind Al Soulia - Riyadh - JEDDAH — The Organization of Islamic Cooperation has lauded the efforts made by the member states in preventing the spread of coronavirus.

Extending its support to the member states, the OIC Secretary General Dr. Yousef Bin Ahmed Al-Othaimeen called for adherence to the precautionary measures taken by member states in order to protect their citizens and residents from the deadly virus.

He warned against the danger of rumors, stressing that information must to be taken from official sources.

Al-Othaimeen also called on governments of member states, research institutions and scientists of the Islamic world to join hands and coordinate efforts in order to accelerate and contribute to the production of a vaccine or a cure for the virus.

“While many countries in the world seek to produce a successful drug to end the crisis, threatening the world, the OIC places its trust in the energy and capabilities of the Islamic world and its Ummah to work, innovate and produce,” Al-Othaimeen asserted.

He also commended the efforts of the Islamic Development Bank in supporting the member states to confront the pandemic. — SPA
