Today, the General Corporation of Saudi Arabian Airlines and King Abdulaziz Foundation signed a partnership agreement aimed at implementing a digital transformation project to archive “Ahlan Sahl” magazine, to enrich the Saudi library with its diverse content, as well as document the history of aviation in the Kingdom.
The agreement was signed between the Department and the Corporation at the General Administration Building of the Corporation in Jeddah, in the presence of His Excellency the Secretary-General of the Department of King Abdulaziz, the designated Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Samari, and the Director General of the Saudi Airlines Corporation, Engineer Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Omar.
Dr. Al-Semari stressed the department’s endeavor to expand its partnerships with national institutions to document and monitor national history, and to take care of historical sources of all kinds; To create a scientific and cultural production environment for academics, researchers, and those interested in social studies to benefit from, pointing out that the partnership with the Saudi Arabian Airlines Corporation will have a positive and effective outcome in the field of work of both sides, and benefit from all its data to support the scientific research process with tangible results on the ground.
For his part, Al-Omar explained that the agreement is of great importance, especially that the national carrier celebrated the 75th anniversary of its establishment a year ago, so it is a great legacy that carries with it many achievements, to which generations of those who served the country through this edifice contributed, pointing out that “Welcome” magazine, which has been considered a “travel companion” for many years, during which it was an important source for insiders, researchers and the general public, culminated in its archiving with the latest scientific and methodological methods in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Foundation, which is a leading global reference in the history, heritage and intellectual literature of the Kingdom.
It is noteworthy that the magazine “Ahlan wa sahlan” was launched (45) years ago with its first issue in July 1977 AD, and King Abdulaziz Foundation will archive all its issues with the latest digital methods, and it will be made available to all researchers and those interested in the field of aviation.
