The spokesman for the Jordanian Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Haitham Abu Al-Ful, confirmed that the Jordanian engineer, who is staying in a park in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, refuses to receive assistance, and does not respond to anyone.
Abu al-Ful told “Ammon” that “the Jordanian embassy in Saudi Arabia, from the moment it learned of the Jordanian’s order, has sent employees to try to talk to him and stand up to the help he needs, but he refused to talk at all.”
The Jordanian engineer also refused to talk to his friends in Saudi Arabia, who tried with him repeatedly, according to Abu al-Ful.
He indicated that the embassy and his colleagues offered him to secure a place of residence, or rent a house, and leave the garden, but he refused any help.
He pointed out that the Saudi authorities took him to conduct a psychological evaluation and after making sure of his safety, he returned to the same location in the garden, refusing to talk to anyone.
Abu al-Ful said, “The embassy is following up with the authorities in Saudi Arabia, as well as with his relatives abroad. His brother, who lives in one of the Arab countries, visited him, trying to persuade him to leave the garden and rent a house for him, but he also refused.”
He stressed that “the Jordanian does not beg in the garden and does not do any act that violates the law,” and that “the ministry is ready to provide support and assistance in coordination with the Saudi authorities.”
