And achieving the aspirations of its people, which is the essence of the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may God protect him, in completing the elements of economic unity, the joint defense and security systems, and the formulation of an effective unified foreign policy.
She added: The political, economic and media circles at all Arab, regional and international levels continue to pay great attention to this tour that precedes the upcoming summit of the GCC leaders in Riyadh, and the entitlements it frames for a new stage, which reflects the Kingdom’s full concern for its wise leadership and the wisdom of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and his brothers the leaders. To achieve the ambitious hopes of the peoples of the GCC states for more integration, growth and prosperity, and the highest levels of solidarity and effective joint coordination towards issues and challenges at various levels, and to enhance security and stability in this important region.
Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper stated in its editorial entitled (Land Road: Logistical Links and Strength): All types of transportation represent a basic support and engine for the indicators of national economies and their multiple activities. The Kingdom succeeded in establishing a network of highways across the country, which made it expand to external roads to connect with its neighbors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, activate the trade movement between them and facilitate the process of movement and travel. Roads of land transport are an important means that revive activities related to the development of trade routes, open ports with economic returns and revive entire geographical areas.
And she continued: In this direction, the road project linking Saudi Arabia and Oman, which was officially opened during the visit of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to the Sultanate, had indications from all the required aspects. On top of that, it achieves a basic axis of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and a main goal to complete the land links between all the Arab Gulf states. This link supports economic and development activity and with it direct relations between the Gulf states, and it also enhances the logistical tools for this movement here and there. She indicated: This road is considered universal in terms of its construction, and is exemplary because it has challenged the harsh nature of the Empty Quarter, and it has endless advantages. The flight time between the Kingdom and the Sultanate was shortened from 18 hours to only six hours, and this supports the movement of public transport and freight, but the important point here is to strengthen supply chains, while the world is experiencing crises in this field, especially in the wake of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic nearly two years ago.
In short, it is a strategic outlet that supports the economic agreements that bring together Riyadh and Muscat in different sectors and multiple fields, and their entry into force, especially in the areas of money, oil, petrochemicals, maritime transport, and so on. These agreements amounted to $30 billion, and they are a new base on which the special relations between the two brotherly countries are based. The road, which penetrated the Empty Quarter desert, at a cost of more than 1.9 billion riyals, will immediately contribute to enhancing the transportation movement from Saudi Arabia to Oman and from there to the latter’s ports towards the rest of the countries in the region and the world. That is, it is a pivotal logistics “corridor” that shortens distances, and reduces transportation time and costs. The road is 725 km long, and will provide the rest of the countries in the region with more facilities in terms of transport and trade exchange, especially in light of the workshop, which the Kingdom is witnessing, to reach the stage of completing the construction of the sustainable economy plan, on time, and with the highest standards.
She added: The returns of the road will have many dimensions at the level of the entire region, and will enhance the course of Gulf trade relations, and it comes at a time when the region needs to continue working towards achieving true regional integration, which is based on what is on the ground, and on the capabilities, which enjoyed by the Gulf countries. The prospects opened by this road are wide, both on the economic level by supporting a developed and safe long-distance transport network, according to the highest international standards, or in terms of the benefits that the Gulf Arabs themselves and the residents of the region will reap by facilitating movement from Oman to the Kingdom for various purposes. Such as tourism, Hajj, Umrah and regular family visits. The memoranda of understanding, which were signed between Riyadh and Muscat, focus on this important social aspect.

She added: Working as a joint team in these affairs with various countries of the world and in international bodies and conferences concerned with the economy, health and the environment will contribute significantly to achieving the goals of our countries in these areas.
And she continued: The Gulf states are economically and environmentally difficult due to their influential position in the world economy, and the fact that their lands store the highest percentage of oil and gas resources, which are economic foundations needed by the whole world, and they have a great connection with the environment and climate variables and their modern systems that focus on harmonizing the fulfillment of peoples’ needs. At the same time, preserving our planet from pollution associated with various types of traditional energy.
She concluded: The visits of His Highness the Crown Prince focused, in some aspects, on various economic and investment agreements and memoranda of understanding, in addition to the constants and solid joint relations with the Gulf states, and what enhances their unity and common vision for the economy in the GCC states and its various global connections.
