The UAE Foreign Minister, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, said today, Wednesday, October 13, that his country does not want to repeat Israel’s experience with Saudi Arabia.
In a joint press conference with his American and Israeli counterparts at the US State Department, the Emirati minister stated that the UAE does not want another Hezbollah to appear in Yemen.
He pointed out that his country will not accept the presence of a new Hezbollah on the Saudi border with Yemen, and the repetition of the experience of southern Lebanon and the presence of Hezbollah on the border with Israel.
The UAE foreign minister had talked about his country’s relationship with Israel, and promised to visit him to Israel soon, to meet friends and partners.
Earlier, the UAE also expressed its support for the efforts undertaken by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with the aim of achieving stability in Yemen.
For nearly seven years, Yemen has been witnessing violent battles between the Ansar Allah group and its allied forces on the one hand, and the Yemeni army affiliated with the internationally recognized government backed by an Arab military coalition led by Saudi Arabia on the other hand to restore vast areas controlled by the group, including the capital, Sanaa, in the center of the country in late 2014. .
The ongoing conflict in Yemen and other related causes has claimed the lives of 233,000 people, while 80 percent of the population of 30 million people has become dependent on aid, in the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, according to what the United Nations announced last December.
