Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, Saudi Minister of Energy and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, said that the Kingdom is going through a large series of transformations, including Vision 2030, which includes all economic and social fields, and “which we have begun to reap its fruits on the ground under effective leadership and initiative.” It works to turn plans into visual achievements.”

This came during the university’s celebration of the enrollment of the first batch of female students to study at the undergraduate level.

He said, “I ask myself and I ask those who hear me, who could we meet on this occasion in this place at this time but the vision? The vision is the will. The vision wanted change, it addressed contradictions and triumphed over hesitation while preserving the constants of the state and the identity of society.”

Regarding his studies at the university, the Minister of Energy said: “In this university I spent the most beautiful days of my youth, I knew its corridors, halls, and rooms of residence, and today, as I am proud to be one of its graduates, I envy you to enter the industry of women and men… in creating a more beautiful future for our country. It is not an educational university, it is a community university that embraces the diversity of all the local cultures in our country.”

And he added, “I saw examples of it a while ago everywhere. How many thousand engineers did this university produce? How many thousand experts did this university produce? A day will come after us and someone will come from here and say how many female engineers this university has produced? And how many female experts has this university produced?” How big is their participation in the development and diversification of our economy? How much has they reached in setting an example for others who will come after them? This is the continuum.”

The world-famous university in the fields of engineering and petroleum recently allowed girls to enroll in undergraduate studies in the current semester, after it was limited to students, which opens wide horizons towards empowering Saudi women within the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
